What a great weekend!

I hope you all had a great weekend! Anyone work on their entry for my contest? ;)

This weekend I went down to the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, Plymouth to be specific, and attended one of my best friend's baby shower! She's the first of the group to get married and start a family so it's all very exciting!

I was extra excited because I got to help bake and set up for the shower since I was staying with her, and she let me paint her nails!! Honestly, who can say no to a free manicure? Not Tracie!

She's due in the end of June and they are going to be having a beautiful baby girl, Olivia Kate! The nursery is decorated gorgeously in pink and brown polka dots, and so I found an adorable (and extremely soft) blanket that was brown with pink polka dots and had it monogrammed with Olivia's name. It matched the nursery almost too perfectly!

We, of course, had to match her nails to the nursery too! Haha, here's the finished mani!

You can never go wrong with a polka dot manicure! :)

We used Color Club Yachty Yadda as the base color and then Savvy Melon Fusion (from the new Femme Couture collection), and Pure Ice Magic for the dots and O's!

I opted for simple and chic for my nails: Pure Ice Risk Taker which is a gorgeous gun metal color! 

I'm gonna post swatches of the new Savvy and Pure Ice polishes I acquired last week. So stay tuned later in the week...thinking Thursday.

Lazy

Bonjour Ladies!

I've been lazy. Real lazy. This post should have been up at least 3 days ago. I just never felt like editing the photos. Blah. But it's here now! Yay!

I grabbed a couple polishes that were on sale at Sally's yesterday: Orly's Gumdrop and Rage and China Glaze Light as Air. I don't have swatches yet. I'm wearing Rage but it was a terrible manicure application so I won't post pictures. Rest assured I will be posting pics at some point in time.

I want to say thanks for all the great top coat suggestions! I've got some thinking to do. Seche Vite's looking pretty low right now....

I do have a NOTD to show you. It's Sinful's Let's Talk with Matte Magic over it. It became very blurple (blue purple) with the matte top coat. Still loved it, rocked it for a good 4-5 days, mostly because of laziness.
First up is a blurry pic to show you what I thought it was gonna look like. Unfortunately it only looked this way in certain lighting.

 

Now what it mostly looked like:

Still gorgeous, just not what I was going for. I found that under fluorescent lighting and low lighting it looked this way.

Oh well, I still got great compliments on the color, so I'm not too sad.

Help!

This is just a quick post to get out my frustration and to ask a few questions.

I've had some problems with my nail polish being easily peeled off of my nails. I've tried changing base coat and top coat but nothing seems to be helping. It wouldn't be so frustrating if it wasn't damaging my nails in the process. They're very weak as is (from acrylics I had last fall) and I don't want to damage them more.

Right now I'm using Orly ridgefiller as a base coat and Seche Vite as a top coat.

Does anyone know if either of these cause peeling (and when I say peeling I mean I can pail off the nail polish in one complete piece)?
Does the thickness of the coats applied make a difference? I know that I apply my top coat generously, but the base coat is thinner layers.

Please, if you have any insight, leave a comment! I'm desperate! Or leave me recommendations for better base/top coats! Thanks!
